Christmas Sampler and Sugarplum Ornament
This elegant Christmas sampler is worked using
rich colours of ecru, light blue and sparkling
gold accented with rich earth colours. An Angel
is decorating the tree, with gorgeous bands of
specialty stitches and a lovely lacy heart charm
decorating the Hardanger portion. I designed the
matching Sugarplum ornament, a scrumptiously
sweet confection of Hardanger flounces and
ribbons, using some of the same shades. It
resembles a wrapped sweet candy ornament and can
be made for your Christmas tree, or even as a
gift for Valentine’s Day or a Birthday! Both
pieces are stitched using luscious and subtly
coloured silk flosses, while silky cream perlee
and sparkling gold metallic threads and beads
add drama to this exquisite piece. The sampler
can be stitched in only a few evenings,
including the Hardanger motifs at the bottom,
and can then be made up very easily and quickly
into a bellpull using simple bellpull hardware.
